Do Extra Activities & Still Ace IB

Always have a plan and know when your due dates are for assignments

IB being the challenging course that it is, one could only imagine it getting tougher with additional activities such as, being part of school team in a certain sport. In order to balance your school work and your extra-curricular activities, it is of utmost importance that you plan your days well and try to stick with your decisions. For example: when you get your schedule for your games and trainings, write them down into a calendar so you can distinguish timings and perhaps create another time to compensate for the time spent on the extra activity.

Don’t Procrastinate!

Procrastination is proved to be one of the top 5 reasons as to why some people drop out of IB. Leaving things for the last minute could absolutely tear you down and in many cases you will not be able to do as well on your work as you would have if you simply didn’t procrastinate. Do your homework the day that you get it, don’t wait for the day before to get it done.

Use the extra time between activities well

When you are alone think of all the extra time that you have and instead of just sitting and staring at the walls or clouds, DO SOMETHING USEFUL TO YOU IN THE FUTURE! Like on the way to and from school or the grocery store or practice....you are most likely sitting and that it!!! Take out your homework and do it in the car. Read a book or go through your planner. Use the extra time that you have, while you STILL have it!

Ask for help

Teachers, classmates and people in general. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you are having trouble with any subject or topic and you think that one of your classmates understand it then ask them to help you out. Ask people if they could mentor or tutor you at certain times.

Be an all rounder

Good grades will get you scholarships and being an athlete at the same time is a double plus as you are more likely to get scholarships because you are good at more than one thing. Universities understand the requirements of being in a school team, this would mean that you are a well balanced student having to manage your sports with your school work.
